Platform Updates (02/28/07)
- Microsoft
SQL Server 2005, released on November 7, 2005, includes major improvements with
manageability, availability, scalability and security. A team of Thomson technologists
is working with Microsoft experts in order to ensure PORTIA takes full advantage
of these new capabilities.
- Sybase Adaptive Server version 15, released on
September 12, 2005, includes new features optimized for IT operational advantage
to improve performance and to reduce complexity of managing databases. Thomson
experts are testing this new release to gauge the performance improvements associated
with this new platform.
- Early testing on both database platforms have uncovered
some issues that need to be resolved before Thomson recommends either of these
platforms for use with PORTIA. We expect to certify both database platforms for
use with PORTIA V8.0
- We will no longer be supporting the Microsoft NT platform
with PORTIA V7.0. So that you can take this into consideration when planning your
upgrade, we've provided a full list of certified platforms for V7.0 in the March
edition of Tech Flash.
